PayTechImpact: Leading study of payment innovations 2025

The impact of the development of FinTech and legal regulations on innovations in the payment services market of the European Union: strategies of the financial sector and consumer needs.
The project is funded by National Science Centre, Poland under the grant No. 2017/26/E/HS4/00858.

 

The research is conducted by the team of prof. Michał Polasik, from the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, in cooperation with prof. Leo Van Hove from  the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and dr Krzysztof Korus from dLK Legal.

Comprehensive study of the impact of PayTech development and laws on the  introduction of innovations in the payment services market in the European Union, taking into account consumer needs and the strategies of the financial sector strategies.

Covers the following areas:

  • Bank strategies towards payment innovations
  • The impact of innovation–centric regulations on financial sector in Europe
  • Open API infrastructure as a starting point of payment innovations
  • Cooperation or competition – relations between market players after PSD2
  • Existing & future portfolio of payment innovations for EU market
  • Critical mass in payment innovation
